Target Diapers

We have 3 kids who are in diapers at the moment. At this point we go through approximately 82 diapers a week. Rudy being 1 needs more diapers than Maeve (2) or Tripp (just turned 3).
Maeve can will always tell us when she needs to go poo but will consistently pee on the floor. She hasn't figured out how to "turn on" her pee, if you will. Tripp on the other hand can pee in the potty pretty much on command. However he requests diapers when he has to poo. I don't know why. I think he might be embarrassed. I don't want to push him because I have heard of kids getting even more embarrassed and then developing chronic constipation issues etc. So I don't. Tripp gets a diaper at nap time and bed time (cause he seems more comfortable pooing in privacy lol). He also gets one during the day if he really whines for one cause I know that means he needs to poo.
Bella  has been wearing pull ups most nights because she is a deep sleeper and doesn't wake up easily to go pee. She would have maybe 2 dry nights a week, even if were stopping fluid intake around 6 pm (she goes to sleep around 8:30) she would still have problems, even going to the bathroom right before bed.
However recently I ran out of pull ups and decided to give it another try. We've had 4 nights in a row that have been dry! Hooray! And last night she had a full cup of milk right before bed time! I'm contemplating not buying any pull ups for her when I go to the store later. We will see.
Anyway, that is neither here nor there. This is supposed to be a review of  target diapers.
I've been a loyal Huggies user since Bella was about 10 months old.
When Bella was first born we used Pampers swaddlers (and I love how soft they are and the mesh that keeps stuff away from the skin). We used pampers because that is what they had in the hospital. So we continued to buy them. But Bella has super pee or something because diaper would always feel damp on the outside. MOIST even (lol that was for you Ginanne).
Plus we were super poor at this time. So I thought, let's give the wal-mart diapers a try. We bought the White Cloud diapers and loved them. They had these cute John Lennon designs on them and they never felt damp like the pampers did. Then White Cloud changed the design and they sucked. We were so sad. We preferred them to the most expensive diaper when it came to performance, and they were a ton cheaper.
During this time I had a friend whose daughter was the same age. She always used Huggies. The ones that come in the red and white package. At that time they had The Lion King on them, but now they have Mickey Mouse.
I thought they looked cheap, even though they were more expensive.
I don't know why Huggies doesn't use more color saturation on their cheaper diapers.
Anyway we started using the Winnie the Pooh Huggies diapers cause I thought they looked nicer and had cute polka dot and striped designs (at the time we started using them, they have since changed).
So we used them for a long time, occasionally trying a new diaper to try and save money since our kids get a lot of leaks at night time.
Eventually we started lowering their fluid intake at bedtime and Danny would check their diapers a little before 5 am as he leaves for work.
Recently I heard that Target brand diapers had gone through another change. So I thought we would give them another try.
Man I am so glad we did! They are amazing! They hold leaks as well or better than huggies ever have, they look super cute with their polka dot design, they have super stretchy tabs and best of all we can get a box of about 82 diapers for about $14 (size 4).

Estimating our diaper usage from the time Bella was born (and figuring that newborns are sometimes changed 10+ times a day) I have concluded that we have used 25,575+ diapers since October 16th, 2005. At an average cost of $0.28 (when you figure that the huggies we normally bought were $.033 a diaper but sometimes we bought the cheaper brand) a diaper we have spent $7,161 on diapers.
If  we had bought only Target Brand diapers, we could saved around $2,794, but I didn't like the old version of target diapers as they were just like the parent's choice at wal-mart and the aldi's brand diapers.
Even though I am late in the new Target diaper game, I will still save about $4 a week on diapers compared to the huggies (and I only get $3 coupons for them occasionally and they are not always on sale either).
Anyway, I love the new polka dot Target Diapers. They are in a yellow and white package and called Up & Up.
Go get some today!

(note this is not one of my kids, but when I did a google search for target diapers the majority had a baby in them. Hopefully since the babies face is not in the picture the mom won't mind. I was just too lazy to get out my camera at the moment).

  1. I too, am a fan of target diapers! We went through the whole variety of diapers also, finally settling on up and up. However, we have to use a Huggies or Pampers at night for Lexi because she will leak through a Target diaper.
