Last week (I'm counting weeks as Monday through Saturday) was when I started my quest to finish the race to zion by my birthday. Last week I lost 3.8 lbs and biked around 45 miles.
This week was when I decided to try and finish it by the end of the semester (December 11th) but subsequently decided to only try to finish 1000 miles instead of all 1297 since I had to miss 2 days due to mad cow disease infecting our children...okay really it is hand, foot, and mouth, which is different than mad cow (hoof and mouth) but they are acting more like they have gone mad, so whatever.
So this week I again rode 45 miles (but I did it in 4 days instead of 6, woo hoo me!) but I only lost 1.6lbs even though my diet has been super good this week.
Danny said he had been reading a study that showed the body would go into a protective mode around this time and cling to it's energy stores (aka blubber) and make it harder to lose weight. Supposedly it doesn't last that long, so here's hoping, cause I wanted to lose 2 lbs this week.
However I am down a total of 5.4 lbs and have ridden 90 miles in the past 2 weeks. So that is really exciting for me.
Plus I've already seen some changes in my waistline.
I'm going to do my measurements tonight, and then do them once a week. I will post the differences in my weekly weigh in post, and then under the weightloss tab I will keep a running total of all weight and inches lost.
Please help keep me on track. I really want to lose a total 41.6 lbs by December (which is around 2.01 lbs week now that I've already lost 5.4 lbs)
2 lbs a week is a totally realistic and healthy goal and will put me within 10 lbs of my goal weight.
I'm noticing too that my body composition is different than before I ever got pregnant. I believe that even with 10 lbs left to my goal weight, I will have already reached my pre-pregnancy size of clothes (I'm only 2.5 sizes away right now). It seems crazy to me that I would lose 40+ lbs and only drop 2.5 pants sizes, so that is where my conclusion comes from. Especially since at Christmas time I weighed only 8 lbs less than I do now and I was a size smaller. So I wouldn't be surprised if I lost about 3-4 sizes (though you also have to remember I have this crazy ugly mommy tummy due to my 4 inch muscle separation in my abs so I'm not quite certain).
So forgive me if the majority of my posts relate to weight loss and exercise for the next 18 weeks. I promise to try and throw in some other, more interesting things.
I am planning on finishing my questionnaire for my online friends, and I still have a few more real life friends who need to finish and send their answers back to me.
I'm also going to finally import my blogs from myspace. I will try to do at least one a week and try to give a little back ground on what was happening at that time.

I believe in you! I just started my own serious routine last week. We'll reach our goals!
